Varicose Vein Treatment

VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT IN BIOLXI, MS

Spider veins in the legs can be unsightly. The cause is not completely known, but heredity is believed to be the most common factor in the development of these veins. Other factors can include pregnancy, hormonal changes, changes in weight or lack of exercise. Spider veins are very small, thin clusters of dilated blood vessels that have a red or bluish color. They can appear anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the face and legs.

WHAT IS VEIN TREATMENT?

Unsightly veins can make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious in certain clothing styles. Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment that can correct unwanted veins safely and effectively. There are very few side effects after treatment and each session takes only about 15 to 30 minutes.

WHAT IS SCLEROTHERAPY?

Sclerotherapy is one of a few treatments used at Trillium Medical Aesthetics & Gynecology to treat unwanted spider and varicose veins. The treatment involves injecting a chemical sclerant into the vein, which causes the vein to become irritated and inflamed and eventually fade away. Blood circulation is then rerouted through healthier veins and the treated vein is absorbed by the body.

VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT TYPES OF VEINS CAN BE TREATED?

Small to medium sized spider veins or varicose veins on the legs and body are most commonly treated with sclerotherapy. For smaller veins or broken capillaries on the face, a photothermal procedure such as IPL is a better option.

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

Sclerotherapy is well tolerated by most people. Many of our clients compare the prick of the sclerotherapy needle to a mosquito bite.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The amount of sclerotherapy sessions will depend on the size, number, and depth of veins being treated. Some people are satisfied after just 1 treatment, but others benefit more from multiple procedures. Treatments should be spaced about 4 weeks apart to allow for healing.

ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES FOR VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT?

Lasers are sometimes combined with sclerotherapy for vein treatment and can provide safe and effective non-surgical options for removal as well. New advanced laser treatment allows light energy to be delivered in precise dosages to the targeted vein, with little discomfort. A slight burning or stinging sensation may be experienced. After several treatments of either sclerotherapy or laser therapy, the vein fades and becomes barely noticeable, or disappears all together.
